To the best of my knowledge, 圎dit is the only reliable way to remove "master files" from a plugin. (See the Sorting Masters section if that is all you are interested in learning.) It will be covered as part of the more time consuming problem of removing a "master file" from a plugin in this article, but is completely separate and not related. Fortunately this is easy to fix, but if you don't it can cause problems in your game. Sorting "master files" is necessary if the creator of a plugin didn't have them in the same "load order" as you (or 圎dit) do. Mods that require F4SE won’t run unless you run the game through f4se_loader.The term 圎dit is used as the generic name for the various game specific versions (aka TES5Edit, FNVEdit, etc.) which are simply renamed copies of the same tool so it will correctly determine the correct file structure to use. To actually use F4SE, you will need to run f4se_loader.exe instead of Fallout4.exe to run the game.
You’ll just need to remember to update the Fallout 4 Script Extender whenever Bethesda updates Fallout 4. You want f4se_loader.exe to be in the same folder as Fallout4.exe Again, this is usually at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 4 but may be different for you. All you need to do is highlight all of the files inside, and drop them into your Fallout 4 Folder. If you’ve chosen the 7z archive, you’ll receive a ZIP File.It’s usually C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 4 but varies person to person. If you’ve chosen the installer, just go through the setup and choose your Fallout 4 directory.Or you can download the 7z archive if you’re not someone who trusts running executable files. Now you can choose to either use the installer, which will place all the files where they need to go automatically.Installing F4SE is a ridiculously easy task, but it can seem a bit confusing to anyone who has never done it or is slightly new to the modding world.
